National Novel Writing Month 2012

Have you been thinking about writing the next great American novel, but just haven’t gotten around to writing it down yet? If that literary genius in you is still struggling to come out, National Novel Writing Month can be what pushes you to write that novel that you have been thinking of for years.

National Novel Writing Month, also widely known as NaNoWriMo, is a month long challenge for budding writers to compose 50,000 words in 30 days. Last year over 250,000 writers around the world took part in the month-long event. It all begins with an idea, the desire to get 50,000 words together in a novel and finish by November 30.

If you need a little inspiration or aren’t even sure how it’s possible to write 1,667 words a day for 30 days, check out our NaNoWriMo board on Pinterest for tips and writing prompts.

Several Pinal County libraries will be celebrating NaNoWriMo by providing quiet spaces for you to get those creative juices flowing.

Be sure to visit the NaNoWriMo website to sign up:

During the month of November, the Coolidge Public Library will make laptops available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. Patrons 14 or older with a valid library card, can sign out a laptop to get their stories going! The goal of NaNoWriMo is to motivate people of all ages to try to write a 50,000 page novel in just one month. If you have ever thought about writing or have even attempted to do so in the past, come into the library, and get inspired! Bring a flash drive to save your work. The only other thing you need is imagination! Good luck, writers.

Need a quiet space to write? Come into the Florence Community Library Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 and spend some quiet time with your novel and fellow writers.
