Rose McKenna is volunteering as a lunch mom at her daughter’s elementary school when there is a huge explosion in the cafeteria. In the confusion that follows, she makes some split-second decisions which seem heroic at the time, but for which she later faces public scorn and possible criminal charges. Her life is falling apart, until she learns some details about the explosion and begins to dig for the truth. Some of her heroics may seem like a stretch for a “suburban mom,” but the story keeps moving and is hard to put down.
